Motherhood is an autobiographical piece I wrote based on my experiences before, during and after pregnancy. Three women play the same person at distinct moments of her life, in an honest, raw, awkward scratch with no limitations. A rollercoaster of emotions just like parenting.

We used movement and sound to connect the women together on stage. It’s a piece that I would like to keep writing and editing as my daughter gets older. I think it’s a never-ending piece.

Dear Daughter is the first piece of work that I curated about my daughter. This particular piece was a letter to my daughter trying to answer the question ’where am I from.’

Motherhood taught me about risk and how to push myself as an artist. I want to create work that will really instigate a feeling within the audience. One of the transitions which encouraged me to take risks was the labour sequence where the performers were mimicking childbirth. They did this by building a screaming soundscape with the undertone of the Immigrant Song by Led Zepplin.
